Drinking Water

  • There are good and better times to drinking water and even a special time to avoid it altogether. Drinking water at the correct times will maximize the effectiveness the water will have on your body. It's recommended that we drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water everyday, that's 64 fluid oz. or 1.89 litres. This is going to depend on a lot of other factors, like climate, lifestyle, exercise and different daily activities.
  • First thing in the morning - 2 glasses of water to help activate your internal organs, just like warming up your car in the winter, it tells your organs, hey, time to get up & start doing your job, it also helps flush your system of free radical and gets rid of residue that build up from you laying down and sleeping.
  • With a snack - or instead of a snack, water will certainly help you eat less at snack time.
  • 30 min. before a meal - 1 glass of water will help to properly digest your food, it helps prepare the digestive system to better absorb nutrients, plus it will make you feel a little fuller allowing you to eat less.
  • Not with your meal - it effect the digestion system, not allowing the digestive juices to do there job properly, what your doing is diluting your stomach acids, so when your in a restaurant and they serve you water, only drink it if your meal is about half an hour away. Once you eat, wait 30 min. and have a glass then.
  • 2 to 3 hours after a meal - have a couple glasses to keep your body hydrated. If you feel thirsty, it means your body is getting dehydrated.
  • Don't over drink -If you haven't had any water in a few hours, don't drink 4 or 5 glasses all at once to make up for it, that will only wash vitamins and minerals from your kidneys, plus dilute electrolytes in your system. So keep everything in moderation, have a couple of glasses and then sip on more later on.
  • About an hour before bed - having a glass before you go to sleep is said to avoid having a stroke or heart attack during the night. I don't know if this is a proven fact or not, but it's working for me so far. That is when I take my low dose aspirin.
  • If your working in the heat - if your sweating a lot you need to keep your body hydrated with water, not a bunch of sugar drinks.
  • Check the color of your urine, if it's a bright yellow, your not drinking enough water!! When your body has enough water in it your urine will be a nice clear color.
